Script analysis exercise

1. Is it the same as the script?

Not exactly, one section was apparently cut out which was something regarding a Hotel Lobby.

2. Any changes?

See Question 1

3. Does the script portray what you expect to see in the film?

Yes, the plot is detailed enough to spot the obvious points which make the plot critical to the movie. Now view the sequence again. This time looking at the dialogue. answer the following questions based on the script for each character.

1. What is their name?

Jerry Lundergaard under the guise of a Mr. Anderson.

Carl Showalter

Gaear Grimsrud

2. What type of words describes this person?

Jerry is shown to the wimpy, nervous businessman who has a certain sense of caution when talking to people. Such as apologizing a lot, pausing and stuttering his words when he talks.
Carl is shown cool headed and the brains of the outfit. Carl typically talks with words that concern the job, often sounding confused and somewhat to the point.
Gaear Grimsrud though only having one sentence in the script shows that he is the Brawn of the outfit, being mostly quiet.

3. Can you tell from this sequence the role of this character? i.e are they a protagonist/Antagonist?

It all seems neutral, all three characters act neutral however they all seem to be apart of the antagonist group in someway. But Neutral is the feeling in general.

4. How do you know this?

By the general tone of the three men, though Jerry sounds wimpy it sounds as if he’s harboring a dark secret, the two other men, Carl and Grimsrud however seem to be apart of the job. But the entire feeling of the conversation seems neutral at this point.

Gary, this is good stuff, if not a little difficult to read, with your choice of font and colour. Having said this welldone. You now need to meet with your group to discuss the Thriller and then work on your own individual script. Chris

Gary use the "Your own script Task" information to assist you in creating a script you need to post it for Dan's lesson this week. Don't worry if all of the text alignment is not right on your post, either speak to Nina in lesson or I can help you next Tuesday. Once the script is up you need to focus on the "pitch" task already posted on the main site. Chris
